Nothing shapes your experience working with RMB more than the people who make our work possible every day. The Meet RMB series offers a chance to get to know our team a little better.
RMB: Can you give us an overview of your role at RMB?
Tim Hanna: Most of my work involves data intelligence, so I’m frequently analyzing trends and assessing the health of our business and strategy. I implement new systems and upgrade existing platforms, including APX, Tamarac, and Salesforce, and I work on the strategic integration of these systems to work best for RMB. This involves process flow and optimization, automation, regulating the quality of data, and more. I’m also involved in RMB’s Culture Club, Employee Trust Committee, and our Conscious Leadership Group.
RMB: What does a typical workday look like in your role?
TH: There is no typical workday! With technology ever-changing and RMB being as dynamic as it is, no day here is the same. Clients and people are our number one priority, so I assist with client-facing team and indirect client needs. I address technical issues that arise and any requests from our operations teams, work to automate processes, coordinate Salesforce initiatives to improve data integrity, report on business intelligence for client retention and employee engagement, analyze data trends, and more.
RMB: Tell us about the education and career path that brought you here.
TH: I started at DePaul University, where I earned a bachelor of science in information systems, with a minor in networking technologies. My first internship was at Quaker Oats while they were being acquired by PepsiCo, which was a fascinating process to be a part of. After college, I was hired by a hedge fund, which served as my first introduction to the financial services industry. After that, I worked my way up to senior vice president at a boutique investment management firm before joining RMB Capital.
RMB: What keeps you busy outside of work?
TH: I’m a proud father of two! I have a nine-year-old daughter who is a gymnast and a ten-year-old son who is a multi-sport athlete. As a family, we volunteer and are active in our local church. In my free time, I like to cook, read, and work on home improvement projects!
RMB: Is there something that you’re especially passionate about in life?
TH: Outside of work, I’m passionate about being a dad. It’s the hardest job I have, but it is also the most fulfilling and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
RMB: What makes you most proud to work at RMB?
TH: The quality relationships we foster and maintain. RMB is a relationship business, and we do that better than anyone else. We work to make a difference in our clients’ lives and hire great people that are all committed to making the firm a better place.
