Nothing shapes your experience working with RMB more than the people who make our work possible every day. The Meet RMB series offers a chance to get to know our team a little better.
RMB: Can you give us an overview of your role at RMB?
Sannya Munir: As a Senior HR Generalist, I manage several HR functions, including compensation and benefits, training and development, performance management, and HR policies and compliance. Our team works on various projects and initiatives throughout the year to support the company's goals and support employees' performance and engagement, and help them grow at the firm.
In addition to that, we are each involved in a few committees. The ones I lead include the Wellness Committee and the DEI Committee. It's important to me that we prioritize the well-being of our employees and promote diversity, equity, and inclusivity in all aspects of our work.
RMB: What does a typical workday look like in your role?
SM: There isn't exactly a typical workday. Each meeting, each call, and each email is unique. I'm getting to know employees as they start with the firm, and helping them navigate as they go through life changes at home and at work. It's definitely rewarding to get to know them and see them grow.
My involvement in three committees and two clubs adds variety and fun to my days. I also have a fantastic manager who supports my learning, exposes me to new projects and tasks, and keeps things engaging and purposeful.
RMB: Tell us about the education and career path that brought you here.
SM: I initially studied accounting and finance at DePaul University and had my first internship in that field. While working as an accounting intern at Midtown Athletic Club, the HR department often reached out for support. I found myself enjoying HR and could see myself doing that long-term. I pivoted to HR and business management, and after graduating, I worked at Vitality Group on their HR and legal teams. I started at RMB just days before the COVID-19 pandemic hit and immediately got to collaborate with the HR team on how we moved forward.
RMB: What keeps you busy outside of work?
SM: I am an aunt, and I can't wait to see what the little ones are up to each day. Seeing the world through their eyes is magical and, oh boy, are they funny. They don't give up and always want to know the "why" of everything, which has motivated me to do the same. So, curiosity keeps me busy, as well as improving some skills that I haven't utilized in a while, such as photography, gardening, and learning new languages.
RMB: Is there something that you’re especially passionate about in life?
SM: I’m passionate about learning. Whether it’s working at RMB or outside of work, I enjoy educating myself and growing. I’m particularly interested in learning about other cultures and how they interact. I've also gotten more into sustainability since college.
RMB: What makes you most proud to work at RMB?
SM: I’m proud to work at RMB because of how deeply we care for our clients. We truly put our clients before profits. It’s been a privilege watching our employees foster close relationships with our clients and grow themselves.
