At Curi Capital, it’s our mission to help clients build true wealth, however they define it. Our team brings the knowledge, experience, and passion to help clients meet their goals through a wide range of financial services and solutions—and we’d love for you to meet them.

This month, we sat down with Cindy Pittman, Senior Research Analyst, to discuss her transition to the Curi Capital team following the KDI acquisition, the evolution of her career, and where she finds joy outside of work.

COULD YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR ROLE WITH CURI CAPITAL AND WHAT YOUR EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN LIKE SO FAR?

As an equity research analyst specializing in the Healthcare and Consumer Staples segments, I am primarily responsible for due diligence and identification of companies that fit our model of durable, defensive, and sustainable growth. The transition of KDI joining the Curi Capital team at the end of 2021 was seamless given the shared values between the two companies. We quickly became one, integrated team working toward a common vision.

WHAT LED YOU TO YOUR CAREER?

Interestingly enough, it was not being selected for an internship with a Fortune 500 company during college that helped lead me to my career. My fallback plan from that internship was a role with a Healthcare IT startup company that my mother secured for me while negotiating a computer system installation with the company. That job is where I found a wonderful group of mentors and was able to explore a wide range of interests, from accounting to M&A over a span of 22 years.

WHAT DID YOU DO IN YOUR CAREER BEFORE JOINING THE CURI CAPITAL TEAM?

I held dual roles as an executive working for a Healthcare IT firm and as a partner in a healthcare-focused Venture Capital firm. I also earned my MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business while working full time.

WHAT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES IN YOUR CAREER THUS FAR?

I was fortunate enough to have co-founded and managed a Venture Capital Fund with one of my mentors. The experience I gained from growing a business both as an employee and as a strategic investor has provided me unique insight as an investment professional.

WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR THE FIRM?

My vision for the firm is to maximize client retention and grow the base through new client additions as well as healthy asset returns. The intentional cross collaboration of our team allows for exceptional client intimacy, and I look forward to seeing continual growth from those relationships we foster.

WHAT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE?

I recently celebrated 50 years of friendship with my best girlfriend. We met at the elementary school bus stop and have been friends ever since. The longevity of our mutual encouragement is so uplifting, and I try my best to be an encouraging resource to others.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OR HOBBIES OUTSIDE OF WORK?

I absolutely love interior design and working on home renovation projects. My husband and I have renovated several homes and I find it to be a calming contrast to the analytical work I do in my job. Cooking provides me with the same benefit and I read through cookbooks like novels.
