CHICAGO, Nov. 5, 2019 – RMB Capital, an independent investment advisory firm with more than $9.2 billion in assets under management, recently served as the presenting Valedictorian Sponsor for the sixth annual Glass Half Full Illinois, benefiting Greenhouse Scholars, an education-based nonprofit organization. Held on Nov. 2 in Hinsdale, Ill., the event raised more than $100,000 to support the organization’s programs.
The event, a series of invitation-only house parties across the Hinsdale community, drew nearly 200 donors, volunteers and Scholars. The Scholars were on hand to share their personal stories about how they have overcome incredible obstacles, and to discuss how Greenhouse Scholars has helped support their journeys of personal achievement and community impact, all while enjoying an evening of conversation, food, and fun.
Home to a number of RMB’s senior executives and wealth advisors, the Hinsdale community has been a longtime bedrock of support for Greenhouse Scholars, with more than 600 members of the community volunteering approximately 6,500 hours and donating more than $1.5 million to the organization to date.
Since its inception 14 years ago, Greenhouse Scholars has cultivated leaders from low-income communities to ensure they reach their true potential as community change agents. The organization provides essential professional, personal, and financial support during college for students who have overcome great challenges in their lives and families—such as homelessness, poverty, violence, and other dire circumstances—to become mentors, pioneers, researchers, activists, and advocates. While more than three-quarters of Scholars are first-generation college students, the organization boasts a college graduation rate of more than 95%, multiple times higher than the national average.
